47 percent of households will pay no income tax
Roughly 47 percent of households, or 71 million, will not owe any federal income tax for 2009, according to estimates by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center. That's good news for most of us. But it might be a problem for lawmakers debating how to pay for policy initiatives like health reform, whether to extend the Bush tax cuts and how to reduce the deficit, CNNMoney.com reports.
